Skin (staph) infection history...tampons safe? - staph infection folliculitis

I have a history of staph infections, and folliculitis on my thighs. I always have the pills, but I am seriously considering to change tampons or cup. But I am a little afraid, because I understand that TSS is caused by Staphylococcus bacteria. I also have the significant flows of light and moderate infections every two months. What do you think: Should I enter into the risk?
